Grants for Book Writing

Many authors and book writers are looking for means to finance their book writing career. Not all book writers succeeded in the field of book writing. In order to continue writing books, authors must make a living. This is one of the hardest things about being an author. Fortunately, deserving book authors can apply for grants for book writing that are offered by several organizations.

Scholastic Art & Writing Awards

The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers or AYAW are supporting book writing works of students enrolled in grades seven to 12. The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are offered by the organization to these students in honor of their creative side of life in the field of literary and visual arts. The organization is awarding cash grants of up to $10,000 and this is given to the best and top five portfolios in writing.

Eligible students must be currently enrolled in the following types of school: parochial, private, public, home school and even after school in U.S., Canada and American schools that are based in other countries. They must be taking up their grades seven to 12. For more details, log on to The deadline for the application to the grant is on the 1st of October every year.

Furthermore Grants

The Furthermore grants assistance to organizations with book writers as their members. The assistance comes in the form of cash grants that will be used for book writing and publishing. The books must be non-fictional and are depicting the relevant issues of the world these days in terms of the historical and natural resources, arts, culture, civil, freedom and many more public issues. Only the 501 (c) 3 organizations or those non-profit groups are eligible to apply to the grants awarded by the Furthermore.

The cash assistance that is usually awarded ranges from $500 and can go up to $15,000. There are two deadlines for the application: first is on the 15th of March and next is on the 15th of September every year. Download the application form and guideline at
