What is The Frees Foundation?

The Frees Foundation reflects the philanthropic vision of C. Norman Frees and Shirley B. Frees by awarding grants primarily in the fields of community services, education, health, and housing.

Today, the foundation works to serve as a catalyst for social change by collaborating with other foundations and non-profits as well as providing international aid and emergency relief.

The mission of The Frees Foundation is to support efforts that assist vulnerable and underserved populations achieve self-sufficiency.

  • Emphasis will be given to projects which serve the needs of women, children, youth and families.
  • Grants will be made primarily in the fields of health, education, housing and community services.
  • Priority consideration will be given to international aid and emergency relief.
  • Geographic preference includes the Metropolitan area of Houston, Texas as well as the State of Texas.

Who are eligible for The Frees Foundation?

Religious, charitable, scientific and educational institutions which are qualified under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service. Emphasis will be given to organizations and programs that benefit women, children, youth and families. Priority consideration will be given to international aid and emergency relief.

How to apply for The Frees Foundation?

To facilitate the grant process, please request an Initial Grant Application. Once received, you will be informed within three to four weeks if your request seems to be within our giving focus and funds are available in our current funding cycle. We will then send you a proposal form to fill out and return to us.

How much funding is available for The Frees Foundation?

The amount of funding to be granted shall be decided by the Frees Foundation based on the merit of each application.
