What is Amarillo Area Foundation Grants?

As a community foundation, the Amarillo Area Foundation does not limit its discretionary grant making to a particular field or area of interest. Rather, it seeks to support the entire range of human needs in the Panhandle. Because resources are limited, the Directors are forced to make judgments based on relative need and potential impact. Currently, the Foundation is focused on four areas of particular priority:

  • Education
  • Health
  • Human Services
  • Youth and Families

Who are eligible for the Amarillo Area Foundation Grants?

To be eligible for funding, the applicant organization must:

  1. Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization as defined in Section 509(a)(1) and/or Section 170(b)(1)(A)(vi) or Section 509(a)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code. Individuals are not eligible applicants.
  2. Use grant funds within and for the benefit of the residents and communities of the 26 northernmost counties of the Texas Panhandle.
  3. Provide an annual financial audit conducted by an independent CPA if the annual operating budget is $100,000 or more.

How to apply for the Amarillo Area Foundation Grants?

Applications may be submitted by mail or email. Upon submission, applications and accompanying materials become the property of the Foundation and are used as deemed appropriate by the Foundation. These materials may be reviewed with others as part of the assessment process. Information may also be shared with other foundations and funding sources that call for information about community projects.

How much funding is available for the Amarillo Area Foundation Grants?

The Board of Directors are responsible for final approval of each grant request. There is no specific amount that may be granted as funding is determined by available funds, making the application process competitive.
