For breast cancer patients, they can find assistance and support for their treatment especially if they are underserved and less privileged. The cost of breast cancer treatment is very high and it can drain your resources. That is why there are several organizations (aside from the federal government) that assist through grants for breast cancer patients in which the money can be used for the treatment and services.
Avon Foundation for Women Breast Cancer Crusade
The foundation works for the benefit of breast cancer patients in terms of healthcare. Through the foundation’s “Access to Care Programs for the Underserved”, underserved breast cancer patients can have the quality medical treatment that they must have. Avon is supporting community and regional hospitals in order to enable less privileged patients of breast cancer especially in the post screening diagnosis as well as caring. Interested applicants must submit a so-called Letter of Intent or LOI and the chosen applicants will then be invited to submit a complete proposal for the grant.
The deadlines for the application vary per area. For Boston, Chicago, Denver and Washington, the LOI deadline is on the 14th of January, 2011 and the proposal deadline is on 22nd February, 2011. For the grants for breast cancer patients this 2011, the importance is to give assistance to the patients in navigating programs or for the partial support for the equipment that safety net hospitals can used to improve their care for breast cancer that will be given to the underserved medically. The cash assistance that applicants may propose is up to $250,000, which will run for two years.
