What is The Carl M. Freeman Foundation Grant?

In 1960 Carl M. Freeman established the Carl M. Freeman Foundation which is currently headed by Michelle D. Freeman as Chairman and President. The Foundation gives support to philantropic causes in Delmarva communities, greater Washington, DC and in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia in the form of capacity-building opportunities and grants.

Who are eligible for The Carl M. Freeman Foundation grant?

Applicants must follow the grant guidelines below:

  • Beneficiaries must be tax-exempt under the IRS-recognized 501(c)(3), nonprofit organizations or public agencies specifically serving the residents of our funding areas.
  • Grants will not be distributed to:
    • Individuals
    • Political associations or candidates
    • Organizations that would disperse the funding to others
    • Organizations that discriminate by race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability or national origin
