What is the Albertsons Community Investment Grant?

The core of Albertson’s charitable efforts is the notion that a good corporate citizen is a lifelong responsibility. By taking a proactive stance in the creation of stronger communities, the quality of life is improved for associates and customers. As a good neighbor to numerous communities throughout the Western United States, the foundation participates in various activities that support the community beyond the core business.

Who are eligible for Albertsons Community Investment Grant?

Donation Focus Areas

Albertsons is focused in providing customers with the Premium Healthy & Fresh experience upon entering their stores and in doing so has focused their support in organizations that help in creating healthy, thriving communities.

Albertsons awards grants to school and non-profit programs that focus on these areas:

  • Hunger Relief
  • Comprehensive hunger relief and food distribution centers that are non-profit
  • Health and Wellness awareness, programming and education, and disease prevention and management through diet
  • Nutrition
  • Healthy nutrition and lifestyles education and promotion with access to healthy foods

Criteria

Albertsons will evaluate requests basing them on these criteria:

  • A clear program description
  • Quality delivery of the service needed
  • Results that can be predicted and evaluated
  • Fiscal and capable management in carrying out the program
  • Broad-based community support
  • Competent, qualified board and staff
  • Will benefit a substantial area of the community particularly focusing on disadvantaged and at-risk populations
  • Associate volunteer opportunities

Albertsons will in general do not support:

  • Individuals
  • Research or travel expenses
  • Participation fees in competitive programs
  • Organizations receiving more than 30% of their funds from United Way
  • Lobbying, religious or political programs
  • Non tax-exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS tax code

How to apply for Albertsons Community Investment Grant?

Applicants should review the directions indicated below before submitting the grant request.

  1. Based on the organization’s geographical location choose the right address for the application.If the location of the organization is in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Utah or Wyoming, send the application to: Albertsons Communications and Public Affairs Department, 250 Park Center Drive, Boise, ID 83726 as per the donation request form.If the location of the organization is in California or Nevada, please send to: Albertsons Community Relations Department, 1421 S. Manhattan Avenue, Fullerton, CA 92831.If the location of the organization is Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, Florida, New Mexico or Texas, your Albertsons LLC is operating your store then make your charitable request on the corporate site. Download then complete the Grant Application form.
  2. Download the W-9 form and complete it.
  3. Forward the completed application form, W-9, and if the organization is nonprofit, a copy of the 501(c)(3) letter to the address indicated above. All grant requests must be submitted with all of the above information or the request will not be reviewed.

The review of the requests may take 6 weeks. If an event is involved in the grant request, then send the request at least 8 weeks before the date of the event.
