Grants for DC Residents

In the DC area, residents can get grants especially for education and housing. Students can apply for the programs intended for educations, the DCTAG and DCLEAP. Whereas, less privileged and low income families can have their own home through the help of non-profit and private organizations working for their cause.

The federal government in the DC area started the “Higher Education Financial Services and Preparatory Programs”. Under this program, they offer DC Tuition Assistance Grant or simply the DCTAG and the DC Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership or simply the DCLEAP.

Under the DCTAG program, the choices for higher education in which DC residents can choose are increase and this program provides grants in the form of cash assistance worth up to $10,000 that is toward the difference among the in-state as well as the out-of-state tuition at any four years course in public colleges and universities all over US, Guam and Puerto Rico. DCLEAP

The DCLEAP is a grant program that is open to all students, both undergraduate and graduate. In order to apply to this grant program, applicants must complete it at fafsa.ed.gov. However, those applying for the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant or the VTAG need not to do that. The DCLEAP is a grant that is need-based and it needs separate application in which anyone can get from the government of DC.
