The government has all the reasons to promote general fitness among the citizens of this country, and one way to do this is to provide government grants for gyms. People go to gyms not just make their bodies look fit and good. They go there to be healthy and free from diseases that could bring them down and be unproductive. The less time people spend in hospitals and being sick, the better it is for the country so it does make sense for the government to provide means for the people to maintain their health. If you are a for-profit or non-profit organization and want to build a gym, here are some grants opportunities that you can apply so you can get the right gym equipment that will help the people in your community get fitter and healthier.
President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports – this program is under the Department of Health and Human Services, as authorized by Executive Order 13265. Its main objectives include arousing the people’s interest and awareness of the benefits of regular physical activities, sports participation, fitness and good nutrition. This is accomplished by promoting the development and improvement of coordinated programs that encourage physical activity, including participation in sports, and proper diet and nutrition. The program aims to provide technical assistance and consultation to schools, employee organizations, government agencies, youth organizations, industrial associations and the general public. There is no grant money involved and the program is limited to providing information only on the above mentioned activities. You can get more information from the program headquarters:

You can search for more government grants for gyms at grants.gov. You can use the site’s search tool to find out current funding opportunities for any fitness related projects, if you can’t find grants specifically for gyms. While it may prove to be difficult to find grants that match exactly what you need, there are general grants where you can find what you require. You can also approach your state or federal representatives’ offices and inquire if they can assist you in finding any type of grant available for you and your community.
You can also try local private organizations that provide similar grants. You may have to compete for their grant money with many others who are looking for the same grant opportunity but don’t lose heart. Just remember that there are no laws prohibiting you from applying for as many grants as you can. You have to make sure though that you always follow their instructions and submit all needed documents properly filled up and completed.
