Grants for American Legion

The American Legion, the country’s largest veterans organization, was created by Congress in 1919. It sponsors youth programs, advocates volunteerism, honor and patriotism, upholds continuous devotion to our veterans, and promotes strong national security. They have several means of serving the needs of veterans such as scholarships, family support network, and temporary financial assistance. They also have a career and benefits center for veterans as well as several projects in support of our active troops and national security. Many people are looking for grants for American Legion and they won’t be disappointed because there are several grants available that could benefit those who need financial assistance.

American Legion Grants

On top of the Legion’s scholarship program is the American Legion Legacy Scholarship through which children of US service members who perished on or after 9/11 of 2001 can receive scholarship grants for higher learning.

Those who excel in baseball will be happy to learn that there is an American Legion Baseball Scholarship which awards financial assistance to deserving baseball players.

Korean War veterans are honored through the Samsung American Legion Scholarship. This scholarship was established by the electronics giant to show appreciation for US soldiers who helped Korea fight its enemies.

The Legion has also created the National High School Oratorical Contest Scholarship which can be used by recipients to pay for their college or university education.

They also provide a $10,000 scholarship grant to the Eagle Scout of the Year which is given at their national convention.

Registered nurses can avail of the Legion’s The Eight and Forty Lung and Respiratory Disease Nursing Scholarship Fund which they can use for professional development as supervisors, administrators or teachers. Nursing students can also receive this grant provided they have prospective employment as nurses in clinics, health departments or hospitals’ pediatric lung and respiratory department after their graduation.

Because it recognizes the sad reality that not all children in the US grow up in a normal environment suited for children, the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation provides means to inform and educate the general public about these children’s plight and their needs, and gives financial assistance to fund projects that contribute to the welfare of these children. Non-profit organizations can apply for grants for their projects that will enhance the mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional wellbeing of children.

These grants for American Legion projects are available all throughout the year. You can visit their main website at www.legion.org to get more information about each individual grant that you wish to apply for. Since they also accept donations and they do need them to fund their patriotic projects, you can also use the site to donate.
