<h3>Urban Indian Health Services</h3>
<p>The Urban Indian Health Services is a program administered by the US Department of Health and Human Services under the Indian Health Service agency. This grant program is intended to give services that are health-related to the Urban Indians, this services includes alcohol and substance abuse treatment, prevention, rehabilitation and education. Other services are the assessment of the mental health needs and services, promotion of health and prevention of disease and finally the immunization services. The funding awarded through this program ranges from $122,832 up to $626,765 with the typical average of $227,856. <p>The Veterans Rehabilitation – Alcohol and Drug Dependence grant program is managed by the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) under the VA Health Administration Center. The program is designed to provide services in terms of medical, vocational, rehabilitation and social therapies to the veterans that are deemed to abuse alcohol and drug. This program is offering different treatment such as drug rehabilitation, detoxification and <a title="education" href="http://www.grant-applications.org/education-school-college-grants">education</a>. The application to the Veterans Rehabilitation grant must be made personally to any of the following: VA medical center or any outpatient clinic, regional and head office. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>Several studies shown that more than 20 million people are getting addicted to drugs; in this number, approximately 135,000 people die due to drug addiction every year. Back then, drug and alcohol addiction can never be treated as what many believe; however, rehab centers can be a good place for the drug treatment and this proved that the belief was wrong. With careful and proper treatment, coupled with the right counselling, drug addicts can regain their life and have a better and quality ‘second’ life.</p>
<h3>Residential Substance Abuse Treatment for State Prisoners</h3>
<p>The Residential Substance Abuse Treatment or the RSAT for State prisoners is a program under the US Department of Justice and managed by the Bureau of Justice Assistance. This RSAT program is intended to assist every state and the local <a title="government" href="http://www.grant-applications.org/government-grants">government</a> unit in developing and implementing the substance abuse treatment programs to the state and local detention and correctional facilities. The program also aims to make and maintain aftercare services that are community-based for the offenders. Through this program, the recipient State can award sub-grants to local State agencies. The RSAT programs typically awards cash grant amounting to $250,000 and can go as high as $6.8 million. <h3>Science Education Drug Abuse Partnership Award</h3>
<p>The Science Education Drug Abuse Partnership Award is one of the many programs under the Drug Abuse and Addiction Research Programs by the National Institute of <a title="Health" href="http://www.grant-applications.org/medical-health-grants">Health</a>. This award is open to Science Education and this will give funding to develop and evaluate the innovative model projects or programs as well as the materials for enhancement of the knowledge and the understanding of the neuroscience, the neurobiological mechanisms of the substance and drug abuse and addiction in the K-12 students as well as the general public, practitioners from the health care sector, media experts and other educational institutions. <h3>Drug-Free Communities Support Program Grants</h3>
<p>The Drug-Free Communities Support Program Grants is under the US Department of Health and Human Services and administered by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration or the SAMHSA. The program is designed to raise the capacity of the <a title="community" href="http://www.grant-applications.org/community-development-grants">community</a> based coalitions to minimize the substance abuse and ultimately eliminate it by strengthening the collaboration of the communities as well as entities from both public and private sector. The program also aims for the dissemination of the state-of-the-art information regarding the initiative and practices that are proven in the reduction of substance abuse in the youth. In order to enhance their trainings and give them the right care, there are grants for drug dogs. These dogs are active and energetic working animals and are considered as the pace-setters in the detection of illegal drugs. The dogs are trained through positive reinforcement such as using a hard rubber ball, play toy, or a rolled up towel to entice the dog to pursue and detect an illicit drug. This makes learning and training a very positive and exciting activity for the K9. The illegal drugs used in the training of the drug dogs include the following: cocaine, heroin, marijuana, methamphetamines and its derivatives.	These dogs are versatile and are very flexible, adapting to any type of search situation.</p>
<h3>Dogs Against Drugs/Dogs Against Crime</h3>
<p>The Dogs Against Drugs / Dogs Against Crime or simply the DAD/DAC National Law Enforcement K-9 Association is a non-profit organization that aims to improve law enforcement K-9 operations and educate the youth about the dangers of using illegal drugs. The DAD/DAC offers grants to officers for buying special purpose dogs that are highly trained, as well as training equipment and supplies to provide training to both dog and officer. In accordance with the program, the organization also conducts training/working seminars for K-9 officers on various topics related to dogs serving the police. <p>The &#8220;Planet Dog Foundation&#8221; is a non-profit organization that focuses on assisting foundations nationwide that train, care for and support the placement of working service dogs. As of early 2011, the foundation awards cash grants up $7,500 to non-profit organizations for the training, veterinary care and day-to-day expenses of assistance dogs. Such dogs may include service dogs for the blind and disabled, psychiatric service or therapy dogs, or police and fire stations dogs. Eligible applicants are senior high <a title="school" href="http://www.grant-applications.org/education-school-college-grants">school</a> students having GPA of 2.5 or better and planning to pursue college degree. This competitive grant is about essay writing. The topic for the essay is about a personal experience that you or someone you know had with a person that is abusing drug or alcohol. <p>The Shaver – Hitchings Scholarship is a grant program administered by the Triangle <a title="Community" href="http://www.grant-applications.org/community-development-grants">Community</a> Foundation. <h3>Veterans Rehabilitation – Alcohol and Drug Dependence</h3>
<p>The US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the VA Health Administration Center is the administering the Veterans Rehabilitation – Alcohol and Drug Dependence grant program. This program is intended to give social, medical, and vocational as well as rehabilitation therapies to the <a title="veterans" href="http://www.grant-applications.org/federal-grants/federal-government-grants-for-disabled-veterans">veterans</a> that are dependent on alcohol and drug. For the Substance Abuse Treatment, the program can be found in any VA clinics and medical centers. This program is offering different treatment modalities such as substance abuse rehabilitation and detoxification. Education is also part of the program. Eligible applicants are those veterans who need treatment for the substance and drug abuse provided that they meet the following requirements: the veteran has served the military, naval or air service and then they are discharged or even released due to conditions not related to dishonourable acts and meet the general eligibility requirements as prescribed in program number 64.009. They can also apply to any veterans’ service organization representative. They can also mail the VA Form 10-10, which can be attained at the local office, to closest medical center. These discretionary grants are awarded to State Educational Agencies or the SEAs as well as Local Educational Agencies or the LEAs. <p>In Texas, there are programs offered to prevent and minimize the dropout rate. This is the Collaborative Dropout Reduction Pilot Program is intended to give encouragement to partnerships between the public schools and the community-based organizations in order to minimize the number of the students who choose to drop out of school. They will do this using various proven dropout intervention and prevention strategies.  A public school district and the open enrolment charter school are eligible to apply to this grant program provided that 55% or more of the students who are enrolled to them and identified as reasonably disadvantaged. <h3>Animal Welfare Trust</h3>
<p>The Animal Welfare Trust is offering grant programs that will be used in giving assistance to non-profit organizations or those categorise as 501 (c) 3 organizations working for the reduction or removal of animal cruelty and raising of public consciousness in terms of giving the right respect for the animals. The priority areas for the grant program are as follows: welfare of the farm animal, being vegetarian and humane <a title="education" href="http://www.grant-applications.org/education-school-college-grants">education</a>. The cash grants that will be awarded range from $2,500 up to $20,000; however, higher amount is possible. The grant requests can be made for a period of single or even multi-year. For the 2011 grant cycle, 10 to 15 organizations will be selected. <p>The Planet Dog Foundation or the PDF is supporting deserving organizations by offering grant program that is intended to provide financial support to 501 (c) 3 non-profit organizations all over the U.S. The focus of the grant program is to give funding to programs that will provide trainings, place and the support dogs. Funding will be allocated nationwide in order to promote as well as provide financial support to every canine program that are service-oriented such as the search and rescue programs. <h3>Affordable Housing Program</h3>
<p>The Affordable Housing Program or simply the AHP is a program by the Federal Housing Finance Agency or FHFA. This program is intended to give subsidies to the cost of housing for families and individuals having incomes equal to or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI), and also the rental housing that is at least 20% of the housing units that are reserved for the households with incomes equal or below to 50% of AMI.  The AHP funding is mainly available and it is competitive grant in nature and so application is also competitive. The FHLBanks administer the application.  In this competitive grant, the members have to submit their applications on behalf of the sponsors of housing projects that are deemed eligible based on the eligibility requirements and scoring made by the FHLBanks. The cash grant can be used for paying the down-payment, closing the cost, counselling or even rehabilitation assistance or those transactions connected with the purchasing of the household or the rehabilitation of a housing unit.  Each FHLBank is setting its own maximum grant and usually, it does not exceed $15,000 per household.
