Demonstration to Maintain Independence and Employment

The Demonstration to Maintain Independence and Employment or simply the DMIE is a grant program offered by the US Department of Health and Human Services. This grant is intended to reduce the number of individuals losing employment due to their disability. The grant is offered to disabled women and men and part of it is providing Medicaid for workers. The grant can be applied in the state offices. Again, the local government will draft the grant proposal that will be submitted to the federal government. Eligibility requirements for disabled women are based on her age; between 16 to 65 years old are eligible, have physical or mental disability, and currently employed. This grant program is intended to help the disabled persons in maintaining their current employment and not finding new jobs.
