Grants for Book Writers

Many people want to be an author or book writer, whether it is for fictional, non-fictional, general and specific books. Writing books is a very hard work. Usually, authors take lots of time in writing one. After finishing the manuscript, the work does not stop there. He/she will then face the problem of publishing it. This is the costly part. Good thing, there are organizations and institutions that are willing to assist authors and support them by giving grants for book writers.

Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators

The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators is an organization supporting writers and the illustrators who write books for kids and young adults. One of the programs of SCBWI is called the Work-In-Progress Grants. This program is created to support writers of children’s book in their works such as in completing their books and projects. This program is available year round.

There are subcategories under the Work-in-Progress Grants: the general one, the Contemporary Novel for Young People and the Non-fiction Research Grant. The foundation is awarding seven deserving book writers with cash grant of $2,000 each. The grant is open year round. Aside from the seven grantees, there are also seven $500 cash grants that will be awarded to runner ups. For more details, visit this website: http://www.scbwi.org/Pages.aspx/WIP-Grant%281%29.
