What is the aim of the Emergency Management Performance Grants?

The Emergency Management Performance Grants aims to provide resources to assist State and local governments to sustain and enhance all-hazards emergency management capabilities. All hazards approach to emergency response, including the development of a comprehensive program, planning, training, exercises, sets the stage for an effective and consistent response to any threatened or actual disaster or emergency, regardless of the cause. States have the opportunity to use EMPG funds to further strengthen their ability to support emergency management activities while simultaneously addressing issues of national concern as identified in the National Priorities of National Preparedness Guidelines.

Who are Eligible to Apply for the Emergency Management Performance Grants?

Either the State Administrative Agency (SAA) or the State’s Emergency Management Agency (EMA) are eligible to apply directly to FEMA for EMPG funds on behalf of State and local emergency management agencies, however only one application will be accepted from each State or territory.

State Administration Agency (SAA) is the only agency eligible to apply for EMPG funds…All 56 States and territories, as well as the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Federated States of Micronesia, are eligible to apply for FY 2010 EMPG funds.
