A large number of philanthropic organizations and foundations in the country provide grants for children with special needs. These organizations and foundations provide funding to other organizations, mostly nonprofits, that render different types of services for children who are disabled, sick, or needing special care and assistance. Grants for children with special needs are available in a wide array of interest or services and they include education, healthcare, emotional and psychological care, homelessness, after school activities, and recreation. Grants may range from a few hundred dollars to several thousands of dollars, depending on the organization that gives the grant and the organization that will be using them.
Children’s Trust Fund of Oregon Foundation
CTFO provides small grants, under $1000, to advance the cause of child abuse prevention. Eligible to apply are nonprofit organizations in Oregon that provides services for the prevention of child abuse in the State. Organizations that wish to apply for grant funding must submit a proposal to the CTFO executive director. The proposal must provide the applicant organization’s federal ID number, verified status as nonprofit organization, contact information, and a detailed description of the project to be funded.
The Tiger Woods Foundation
The foundation which was established by golf sensation Tiger Woods provides funding to nonprofit organizations that render service to children in the areas of youth development and education. The grants for children with special needs range from a low of $2,500 to a high of $25,000 and are awarded to organizations that focus on the States of California, Florida, Texas, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Organizations that wish to apply for grant funding must submit a detailed project proposal that includes the organizations financial data. Pre-application forms are provided on the TWF website.
Florida Children’s Legal Services Grant Program
This Legal Advocacy Program that was created by the Florida Bar Association provides grants to organizations that render legal services to children who are in foster care and who need legal assistance in the areas of education, social services and health. Grant applications are accepted at the beginning of each year. Applicants must submit a detailed project proposal.
The Children’s Guild Foundation
The foundation provides funding to nonprofit organizations rendering services that impact the well-being of children in western New York. The grant money awarded by the foundation are intended to address children with special needs, their families, and their community. Applicant organizations must submit an inquiry letter to the foundation describing in detail its program goals, objectives, and the proposed outcomes of such projects.
