What is the California Community Foundation Grant?

Since 1988, CCF has been awarding these one-year fellowships for outstanding emerging and mid-career artists working in the visual arts and residing in Los Angeles County. In total, we have awarded 175 fellowships and more than $1 million, thanks to the donors and founders who have made them possible.

The fellowships exist to:

  • Acknowledge the contributions of outstanding mid-career artists in Los Angeles by enhancing, encouraging and nurturing artistic accomplishments
  • Encourage and foster promising and emerging artists in Los Angeles by supporting early stages of individual development
  • Increase access to artistic support among the diverse communities of Los Angeles
  • Support and develop artistic or cultural talent of special merit that reflects Los Angeles’ diverse population

The Fellowships for Visual Artists are one of the ways that the California Community Foundation fulfills its vision of the arts as part of everyday life in Los Angeles and beyond and the role that artists play within those communities.
