Grants for Women Artists

Now that women have equal footing with men in today’s society their rights and freedom is expressed in many forms of art. Several foundations and organizations are very supportive of female artists who may be in need of financial assistance with regards to the enhancement and promotion of their work or with their daily physical and medical needs. Grants that are awarded to these women artists may be in the form of free money, services and goods.

Change, Inc.

This organization awards emergency grants to women artists from all disciplines. This is a grant that provides financial aid of up to $1,000 for female artists who may need help in paying their rent, utility bills, medical expenses, fire damage and other needs.

Max’s Kansas City Project

This project provides grants to female professionals who focus on creative arts and are primarily from the state of New York. The grant is to assist artists who need medical aid, housing or legal aid. Artists who make a professional or personal living through the use of their art in any form are eligible for this grant. The maximum amount of grant awarded is $1,000.

The Foundation for Contemporary Arts

This foundation provides grants to artists of the visual and performing arts. The financial aid is given to support sudden and unexpected opportunities to exhibit their work in public or for projects that are on-going and almost completed but have sudden and unbudgeted expenses. The grants are very helpful in supporting experimental and revolutionary work done by groups and individuals who lacked the time to look for sources of funding.

Authors League Fund

The foundation gives financial assistance in the form of open-ended loans that are non-collateral and interest-free to professional drama artists and writers who are in deep financial need due to medical and health reasons or to loss of income.

The Carnegie foundation gives financial grants for writers who have published at the very least one book that was sold commercially and has wide reader acceptance. The financial support is for their emergency needs.
