What is J.L. Bedsole Foundation Grants?

The J. L. Bedsole Foundation makes it their mission to ensure that the citizens of the area of Southwest Alabama continue to enjoy good health, prosperity and well being. The Foundation awards grants to provide better opportunities for post secondary education for the youth who are worthy of our support. We also grant awards to citizens of our locality to help in the expansion of their cultural, civic, economic and artistic development opportunities.

Who are eligible for the J.L. Bedsole Foundation Grants?

The Foundation does not give support to the following:

  • Grants that will support political activities or any attempt to influence actions on a specific legislation.
  • Grants that went beyond the current year or multiple year pledges.
  • Grants that are intended as endowment funds for other organizations.
  • Grants are not awarded directly to individuals.
  • Grants are not awarded to organizations, projects or programs that are made outside the jurisdiction of Alabama state.

How to apply for the J.L. Bedsole Foundation Grants?

Applicants must submit their grant proposals printed only on one side of an 8 ? by 11 inch paper. The Chief Executive Officer of the organization must sign the proposal. The requirements include just one copy of the proposal and duly labeled attachments. Do not include bulky items like videotapes, audiotapes, artwork and photographs.

The Proposal should contain the following:

  • A cover letter stating the agency name, address, contact person? name and phone number, a 1 paragraph project summary and the amount of funds you are requesting.
  • A concise summary of the agency? history, mission, staff size and list of board of directors and/or trustees.
  • The project? objectives and goals and how many it will serve.
  • The specific needs that the project will address, the activities that have been planned and accomplished recently.
  • Project work plan with a timeline for its key activities.
  • Project Evaluation with a definition of a Successful project, including plans for specific outcomes and a description of how you measure your success. Put details on how your organization will gather this information and how it will be measured.
  • List the budget of the project, other contributions, other funding sources which the project has submitted to. Also include letters of support and information on goals in future fund raising if available.
  • A photocopy of Section 501(c)(3) IRS determination letter of the agency.
  • A copy of the current operating budget of the agency.
